📌 Vacancy Details
SSC has announced a total of 261 vacancies (tentative) for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ posts. The final vacancy distribution will be updated later based on confirmation from various ministries/departments.
- Stenographer Grade ‘C’: Posts in Central Government Ministries, Departments, and Attached/Subordinate Offices (Group B Non-Gazetted).
- Stenographer Grade ‘D’: Posts in various Central Government Departments (Group C).
✅ Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have passed 12th Standard (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized board or university as on 1st August 2025.
Age Limit (as on 01-08-2025):
- Grade C: 18 to 30 years (Born between 02-08-1995 and 01-08-2007)
- Grade D: 18 to 27 years (Born between 02-08-1998 and 01-08-2007)
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PwD: 10 years (additional for reserved categories)
- Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deduction of military service

- General / OBC / EWS: ₹100/-
- Women / SC / ST / PwD / ExSM: Nil (Exempted)
Payment can be made via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or by using Visa/MasterCard/Maestro/RuPay Credit/Debit cards. Offline payment through SBI Challan is not available this year.
🖊️ How to Apply for SSC Stenographer 2025?
Follow these simple steps to apply online:
- Visit https://ssc.gov.in
- Click on “Register Now” for new users under “One-Time Registration”.
- Complete your registration using Aadhaar authentication, and generate your Login ID and Password.
- After login, go to “Apply” > “Stenographer Grade C & D Examination 2025”.
- Fill in your personal, academic, and communication details carefully.
- Upload required documents:
- Recent Passport Photo (4KB–12KB, 100×120 pixels)
- Signature (1KB–12KB, 40×60 pixels)
- Pay the application fee (if applicable) and submit the form.

The selection will be conducted in two major stages:
1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)

2. Skill Test in Stenography
Only those who qualify CBT will be called for the Skill Test.
- Dictation: 10 minutes in English or Hindi at:
- 100 w.p.m. for Grade C
- 80 w.p.m. for Grade D
- Transcription Time:
- English: Grade C – 40 min | Grade D – 50 min
- Hindi: Grade C – 55 min | Grade D – 65 min
The Skill Test is qualifying in nature but mandatory to secure appointment.
